Freddie Peterson is the General Manager of the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) and Campus, owned by the City of Miami Beach and managed by Oak View Group. Oak View Group, is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities.  

Following a two-decade tenure at the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) and its five properties, Mr. Peterson has been overseeing day-to-day operations and management of the $640M re-imagined Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) and its 10-acre City Center Campus since 2018. 

As a seasoned and innovative convention and hospitality executive, Mr. Peterson provides strategic leadership to the MBCC and its City Center Campus while managing and coordinating the goals, objectives and policies of these City of Miami Beach assets.  His commitment to customer service and excellence in event operations further competitively positions Miami Beach and Miami in the national and international meetings, convention and events industries. 

Mr. Peterson is an integral part of the Miami Beach community. He is a member of the Board of Directors at the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce (MBCC), Greater Miami and Beaches Hospitality Association (GMBHA), Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (LRBID) and the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT).  Mr. Peterson is active within many industry associations including FVMA, IAEE, PCMA, IAVM, ESCA, AIPC, IAEE and UFI. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Exhibition Services & Contractors Association (ESCA) and Florida Venue Managers Association (FVMA).  He has also served on the Board of Directors and a variety of committees within the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), IAVM’s Foundation and ESCA.  

In the past, he has served as Chair of the Seaport Transportation Management Association (STMA) and was a Board Member of A Better City (ABC), Back Bay Association (BBA), Greater Springfield Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (GSCVB), Western MA Sports Commission, South Boston Neighborhood Health Center, South Boston Neighborhood House and the Friends of Fort Point Channel. 

Mr. Peterson holds a BA degree in Political Science from Merrimack College. He is a graduate of IAVM’s Venue Management School, Graduate Institute and Senior Executive Symposium and the UMass Boston Emerging Leaders Program. He resides in Miami Beach with his wife Melissa and their Labrador Retriever, Sofie.
